While a large portion of LBI is scheduled for beach replenishment, Surf City is only going to get a small section worked on. Work will begin in April and sand will be pumped to the municipalities of Long Beach Township, Ship Bottom, Beach Haven and Surf City over for a combined project construction length of 12.2 miles. Frozen Bay Crossings, Placard Mailings, House Explosion, And Sunsets.

Mixed bag of stuff this week.

Coldest February in a long time has had the bay frozen solid and Surf City local Mark Temme braved the elements and crossed it on foot on Feb 21st. He had a PFD on under his jacket, with an ice pick just in case. It was SOLID!

Emergency placards for re-entry to LBI have been mailed and should already be in homeowners possession.

A home that was being worked on in Stafford Twp had a reported gas leak at around 10AM on Feb 24th.  The home exploded w/emergency workers on site. It was a miracle no one was killed. Link to story and video here-

Sunsets have been no less than spectacular recently.

Live Nativity In West Creek

For those looking for some free and fun holiday fun that’s really close, there is a live nativity set up on the east side of Rt 9 in West Creek near Tuckerton. There is a wonderful stable of live animals on display including llamas, sheep, and donkey’s. It’s near the State Trooper barracks. Be careful when parking on the shoulder and watch little children closely.

Early Winter Nor-easter Flooding Worst Since Superstorm Sandy

For those of you that weren’t here on 12/9/14 here are some images of the flooding. Driving on Barnegat Ave in Surf City and the  south end of LBI was treacherous. Winter storm Damon gave us a storm tide of over 7 feet. To put it in perspective Superstorm Sandy was a 12 foot tide. Thankfully beach erosion was minimal since the wind went offshore mid afternoon and the storm started moving away.
