Beach Access Erosion

Please be aware that there is still moderate erosion present at a few of the beach access points on the north end of Surf City. Specifically 18th, 19th, and 21st streets. This erosion is still present due to winter storm Jonas on 1/27/16.

Surf City Resident Gets High Praise for Lifetime Work

Link HERE for a wonderful article in The Sandpaper about Cathleen Engelsen. Cathleen is an amazing woman with a wealth of knowledge and kindness. This article highlights her focus on her work on the historical sites here in Ocean County. She is  receiving a Lifetime Achievement in the Arts award from the Ocean County Cultural and Heritage Commission. The award will be given to her on April 7. BRAVO!!

Great pictures of her work in this article. Quite a few too.

Family Sweetheart Dance!

Looking for something fun to do with the kids or grand kids this Valentine’s Day weekend? Bring your favorite little “date” to the Surf City Fire Dept. on February 12th (this Friday) from 6pm-9pm for the Family Sweetheart Dance! Music, dancing, crafting, light refreshments and more. $15 per couple, and $5 per additional child. All proceeds benefit the Surf City Vol. Fire Company.

Snowstorm Damage

By now the winter storm known as “Jonas” we experienced here in new Jersey is just a memory. But is has left it’s mark here in Surf City. Take caution if trying to access the beach from many of the public and private access points. The erosion is quite severe at many of these points. Holgate also had similar erosion and dump truck loads of fill were trucked in to alleviate the problem. At this point in time the access points are still taped off with yellow caution tape here in Surf City so again, use extreme caution if trying to get down to the beach.

Excellent pictures here in the SandPaper displaying much of the flooding and heavy snows.

Combination of Surf City beach erosion pictures, large surf after the storm, and some pictures of the erosion and damage to Holgate beaches. Also some shots of rusted out car frames, bumpers, and tires which began showing in Holgate after the erosion.
