The 36th annual Christmas Parade started off in perfect spring like weather w/temps in the mid 50s, light winds and full sunshine. Here are some pictures of a few of the floats being readied on Saturday, Dec. 5.

Boats and More Whales

Hope everyone had a nice Thanksgiving. It was a beautiful week here in Surf City. A large run of striped bass had anglers gearing up for the catch and an unusually large amount of boats were spotted out front from Harvey Cedars all the way to Surf City. As an added bonus a whale was spotted surfacing among the fishing boats. Also we had a beautiful moon rise this week.

Whales, Waves , and Walks

This past mid November week has been beautiful here in Surf City. Several whale sightings were reported from Holgate to Brant Beach to Surf City. Don’t forget to pick up when visiting the beach. Whales and other marine life are very sensitive to debris and plastics in the ocean.

Here is a link to The Sandpaper article reporting the new nature walk that is being put together at The Long Beach Island Foundation of the Arts and Sciences in Loveladies.

Also some great surf was reported here in Surf City on 11/13/15.

New Mayor and Post Sandy Thoughts

Link to an article here for a short article on Mayor Connors stepping down from office after nearly 50 years as mayor.

As painful as it is to remember the terrible storm named “Superstorm Sandy”, it is something etched in all the minds of the people in New Jersey. Link here for an album containing pictures of Surf City, North Beach, Harvey Cedars, and Ship Bottom in the aftermath of the destruction.
