The Foul Shooting Contest was  held on Friday July 11, 2014. We had forty-seven children participate in the event plus parents, siblings and fans.There were three winners in each group.. Top winners were;

There will be an all you can eat breakfast at the Surf City Fire House from 8AM to 12PM. For adults the cost is 9$ and for kids its $5. All proceeds are contributed to the the Volunteer Fire Company and EMS so come out and support them by getting a great breakfast!

An emergency town hall meeting is being held in Barnegat Light on Tuesday July 2, at 5pm, at the Barnegat Light Fire House to learn about the dangers of a seismic testing/blasting project scheduled to happen off LBI.

A new outdoor market in Surf City is becoming a more popular place to shop for the summer tourists. Shoppers can choose from a variety of goods, including handmade stained glass and mosaic stepping stones, jewelry, copper weather vanes, homemade soaps and scrubs, leather goods, fresh-baked goodies and just-picked vegetables from a Sneads Ferry farm. And since the mark was setup as a nonprofit The Surf City Summer Market is open every Tuesday until September 2nd.

It was standing room only on Saturday as the Surf City Taxpayers Association held their first general meeting of the year on the “State of the Town” and the Taxpayers Association.

As part of our mission to keep you informed about events and issues in Surf City, we invite you to attend our season-opening general meeting. You’ll hear a report on the state of our town from Mayor Leonard Connors. He will also be taking your questions.

Come to Borough Hall on Saturday, June 21 at 9:45 a.m. for complimentary bagels and coffee courtesy of Bagels and Beyond; the meeting gets underway at 10:00.

You’ll also hear from the Surf City Taxpayer Association Board about projects underway and events planned for the summer. And, if you have an interest in getting involved, any board member will be happy to talk with you.

We expect the Mayor to address issues that have recently been raised by citizens and businesses include the current state of Borough finances (and how we compare to towns like Ship Bottom and Beach Haven),  status of the beaches and other public safety initiatives. We look forward to an informative and engaging dialogue on these and other issues that are on the minds of our citizens.

A Surf City Taxpayer Association issue — and #1 agenda item — that has been under discussion and debate in our town for over 20 years is finally resolved. The curbs on Long Beach Blvd are now painted yellow to inform residents and visitors that there is no parking within 25 feet of an intersection in Surf City.

On May 31 volunteers from the Surf City Tax Payers Association teamed up with Girl Scout Gabriela Hartney and her family and recruited volunteers to go from the south end to the north end of Surf City to paint restricted parking areas yellow. Gaby had made this her Girl Scout Gold Award project.

The marking of restricted parking areas can greatly reduce the bad feelings that arise from visitors and residents who unknowingly park within 25 feet of intersection — and are issued a parking violation. This has been a source of frustration from local business owners whose customers are usually unaware of the 25 foot ordinance. It will also help to prevent accidents by giving drivers coming out of side streets a better view of oncoming cars and pedestrians on the Boulevard.
