Kites, Dancing, and Trunks!

ALOT happening on our barrier island this October. If you made it out to Ship Bottom for the First Annual Kite Festival you were probably amazed at the variety of flying contraptions on display. And it was some consolation for the cancelled Chowderfest.

The 18 mile run went off nicely in perfect weather for the runners.
Here are two upcoming events of interest-
Trunk or Treat event sponsored by the SCPD
and  the Surf City Vol. Fire Department
Trunk or treat events are a safe and fun alternative to traditional trick or treating, which here on LBI may not be the best place for kids to go house to house looking for candy!  The event is Friday, October 30th from 6pm – 8pm in the parking lot of the Surf City Volunteer Fire Department.  It is free to all of the children attending.  We ask that all children be accompanied by an adult during the event, and have tailored it to the age range of 12 and under.
SCPD are looking for residents and business owners interested in registering their trunks for the event; these are the individuals who will be handing out candy at the event.  There is a pre-registration form that needs to be completed per trunk/car.  There is a $25 registration fee per vehicle, which pays for two big bags of candy which will be given to each vehicle when they arrive at the event (this is the candy they will be handing out to the kids).  We intend to have a friendly trunk judging competition, so we hope to see some creative and cool themes at the event.
