          FOUL SHOOTING RESULTS July 10, 2015
There was a big turn out for our annual basketball foul shooting contest
Over fifty children showed up for the event and a big cheering group of parents and siblings.
The top winners for each age are:
 Ages 13 through 18-   Kevin Bushong, Ben Smith, Katie  Krupansky
 Ages 10 through 12-   Drew McNellis, Jay Harry, Matt Lofberg
 Ages 7 through 9-    Santo Plamenco, Killian Todd, Bradley Menegus
 Ages 6 and under-    Hannah Toddd

Presale tickets for the Country Western “Tow The Line Dance” at the firehouse on July 31st from 6:30-10:00 PM are available for $8.00 until 7/21. After that the cost of a ticket will be $10.00. The event is sponsored by the SCFD Women’s Auxiliary.

Busy, Busy, Busy!!

As we enter the two most happening months of the summer here in Surf City there are a lot of activities to keep up with. A few you might be interested in are-

1)  Basketball Foul Shooting Contest- Friday 7/10

Girls and boys, through ages 18, compete for prizes starting at 10:00 A.M. at the Zachariae field, Division St. & Barnegat Ave. Mini Hoops for ages 6 and under!

2) Miniature golf contest at Island Golf-  Wednesday 7/15

  Family and friends play together and compete individually for cash prizes in         children, teen, and adult age groups. At Island Golf, 6th St. $ Long Beach Blvd. 10:00 A.M. to 11:45 A.M.     

3) Bike Rodeo Wednesday, July 8
 
  11am-1pm    Fire Dept. 7th Street Parking Lot. 
A representative from Walters Bicycles will be on hand to do complementary safety inspections. 

Police Officers will be on hand to register bicycles for anyone looking to have that done as well.

 

Taxpayer Meeting with the Mayor Fills the Room

 It was a packed house. The mayor took questions on topics ranging from street flooding to town healthcare expenditures . He also distributed the budget and tax comparison worksheet below. Great information on how our town is run financially. Our next general meeting is Saturday August 22nd. Mark your calendar to learn more about how to get things done in Surf City.
Also the Pancake Breakfast Fundraiser this Sunday, July 5th, from 8am till noon at the Surf City Firehouse. Cost is $9 for Adults and $5 for Children. All you can eat pancakes with a side of sausage, and coffee or orange juice to drink. There will also be Fire Company supporter T shirts on sale (new 2015 shirt color now available) and the Ladies Auxiliary will be selling homemade baked goods and crafts.

Mayor’s Meeting, Farmer’s Market, and Open Studio Tour

Just a reminder for the “Meet the Mayor” event at town hall. Saturday, June 27 10:00 A.M. (Free breakfast begins at 9:45) Mayor Connors will be on hand to discuss issues of special interest and up to date information.

There will be an open-air farmer’s market at the Surf City Vol. Fire Co. this summer. Monday’s from 9 – 1PM rain or shine.  June 29- Sept 14

Bay Beach Fencing and Special Interest Meeting

The bay beach fencing was being put in on June 16th to enclose the swimming area. Lifeguards will be on duty starting June 20th. Hours are from 10 AM to 5 PM. Just a reminder that there is NO smoking allowed anywhere within the Surf City bay beach. Surf City bay beach entrance is on 16th St and Barnegat Ave.

Saturday, June 27th at 10 AM will be a special interest meeting for all Surf City taxpayers at town hall. Mayor Connors will be on hand to discuss issues and up-to date-information. Coffee and bagels will be served starting at 9:45 AM.
